If you put your hand on your ❤️, look at your horse and be open for whatever answer will come: you know what's best for your horse. Have your tried it?🐴

Your environment determines highly your behaviour! When you want to improve your skills, hang out with skilled people. It's very hard to behave very different from others in your environment. If you're trying to use clicker training at a NH/traditional stable for instance. Surround yourself with R+ people, that's where you'll improve the fastest.

If your horse is overweight one of the advice people get from the vet is "No more treats". It's understandable since "treats" have a different meaning for people than for horse trainers. Our "treats" are usually food reinforces. Many clicker trainers already use low calory/low sugar "treats", usually common horse feed.

Having a tribe that supports you and always has your back is super important to succeed. I don't think you're crazing to feed treats in training while you're in the process of slimming your horse down! On the contrary; I encourage it! Let's make exercising appetitive for your horse! Food reinforcers can have a huge impact on your horse's willingness to move, so why not use them,

The trouble with overweight horses is that exercising is aversive. It's hard to move your body when it's out of shape. In slimming your horse down in clicker training we sometimes forget that. WHen you start approaching your training with this in mind your starting point is already set up for success.
